Worm gear ball screw jack use a heavy load grinding ball screw shaft and ball nut made from hardened alloy steel with hardened bearing balls carrying the load between ball nut and ball screw, hardness HRC50-60. This rolling action reduces friction between the ball nut and the ball screw permitting smooth and efficient movement of the load. Because of the greater efficiency and rolling action, the ball screw can operate at higher speeds, higher duty cycle, high performance, high accuracy grade, low backlash and longer service life when compared with jacton worm gear machine screw jack. The addition of a high efficiency ball screw and ball nut reduces the required input torque to approximately 1/3 the torque required for the worm gear machine screw jack. Note: jacton worm gear ball screw jack has not self-locking, requires extra brake mechanism to lock it.
Worm gear machine screw jack use an alloy worm shaft which drives a high strength bronze worm gear. The worm shaft is supported on anti-friction tapered roller bearings with external seals provided to prevent loss of lubrication. The bronze worm gear is supported on anti-friction tapered roller or ball thrust bearings. Rotation of the bronze worm gear causes the acme thread lifting screw to translate or rotate, depending upon jacton machine screw jack configuration. Jacton worm gear machine screw jack has self-locking and will hold loads without backdriving, but must avoid any vibration force happens, it cause the self-locking failure. If vibration force there, need to add the brake mechanism to lock them.
